viral infection
Many times we get a cold, and our temperature stays low, sometimes too low(96 or a little below 96). I was wondering if these "innocent" "don't worry about" viruses are silently attacking our thyroid gland, or other parts of our immune system.
Or is our defense system down, and this is the reaction?

Sometimes when people get sick with an infection their temperature will drop instead of increase. I have never seen anything explaining why but I would suspect either increased sweating to cool the body or simply the stress of feeling like crap suppressing the thyroid.
